Who is Parent Pathways for?
Parent Pathways is for parents and carers who:
- have a child aged under 6
- are not in paid employment
- live in an area where there is a Parent Pathways provider.
Receiving one of these payments:
- Parenting Payment
- Carer Payment
- Special Benefit.
Eligibility includes those who are not getting a Centrelink payment, and are either:
- under 22 years old
- an early school leaver (parents who don’t have a year 12 qualification)
- a First Nations parent or carer.
What support is available for parents?
Parent Pathways offers an array of support options, including connecting you with a mentor who can help you find services, activities, and training that suit your needs.
Some services on offer include:
- language or literacy programs
- support to find a child care centre and help with child care costs
- financial support, for example to help with the cost of training courses, textbooks or to purchase a computer
- referral to supports such as financial information services or family and domestic violence support services
- training, such as a short course at the local TAFE
- career guidance.
Participation in Parent Pathways is completely voluntary and adaptable to your circumstances. You’re free to join, pause, or resume at any time, with the focus always on what works best for you.
How does Parent Pathways work?
Parent Pathways is a voluntary service designed around your unique needs and circumstances. By choosing to participate, you’ll work closely with a mentor to create a plan tailored to support you and your family.
With the demands of parenting, it’s essential that every activity fits within your family life. If something doesn’t work or your situation changes, your mentor will help you find suitable alternatives and connect you with local resources if extra support is needed.
You can attend appointments in person, by phone, or online, and you’re welcome to bring your children along to in-person meetings. This family-friendly service understands flexibility, so rescheduling or canceling appointments is always an option if needed.
Once you and your mentor have developed a Goal Plan, you’ll receive ongoing support to work toward achieving your goals.

Parent Pathways - Your questions answered
1. What is Parent Pathways?
Parent Pathways is a free, voluntary Australian Government program that provides personalised support to parents and carers of children under 6 years of age. Delivered by Campbell Page across the NSW South Coast, Illawarra, and Southern Highlands regions, it connects you with a dedicated mentor who helps you plan for your future through goal setting, training, career guidance, financial support, and childcare assistance. Parent Pathways replaced the former ParentsNext program on 1 November 2024.
2. Is Parent Pathways free?
Yes, Parent Pathways is completely free. There is no cost to participants at any stage. The program is fully funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. This includes the mentoring, training support, financial assistance for course fees and textbooks, and childcare costs such as waitlist or bond fees.
3. Who is eligible for Parent Pathways?
Parent Pathways is for parents and carers with a child under 6 years of age who are not in paid employment and live in an area with a Parent Pathways provider. You are eligible if you receive Parenting Payment, Carer Payment, or Special Benefit. You may also be eligible without a Centrelink payment if you are under 22 years old, an early school leaver without a Year 12 qualification, or a First Nations parent or carer.
4. Is Parent Pathways compulsory?
No, Parent Pathways is completely voluntary. You can choose to join, pause, or leave the program at any time without your Centrelink payment being affected. This is a key difference from the former ParentsNext program. The focus is entirely on what works best for you and your family.
5. What happened to ParentsNext?
ParentsNext ended on 31 October 2024 and was replaced by Parent Pathways from 1 November 2024. Parent Pathways is a voluntary service, meaning it cannot affect your Centrelink payments. If you were previously registered with ParentsNext through Campbell Page, you may have been able to transfer to Parent Pathways. Contact Campbell Page on 02 9103 8604 for more information.
6. Where does Campbell Page deliver Parent Pathways?
Campbell Page delivers Parent Pathways from 14 offices across the NSW South Coast, Illawarra, and Southern Highlands regions. Locations include Batemans Bay, Bega, Bowral, Corrimal, Eden, Kiama, Merimbula, Moruya, Narooma, Nowra, Shellharbour, Sanctuary Point, Ulladulla, and Wollongong. If you are not in these areas, you can find your local provider through the Workforce Australia website.
7. What support does Parent Pathways provide?
Parent Pathways offers a wide range of personalised support including a dedicated mentor to help you set and achieve goals, financial assistance for training courses, textbooks and computers, help finding childcare and support with childcare costs such as waitlist or bond fees, career guidance and employment preparation, access to TAFE short courses and skills training, language and literacy programs, and referrals to other support services such as financial counselling or family and domestic violence services.
8. Can I bring my children to Parent Pathways appointments?
Yes, absolutely. Parent Pathways is a family-friendly service, and you are welcome to bring your children to any in-person appointment. You can also attend appointments by phone or online if that suits you better. Rescheduling or cancelling appointments is always an option if your circumstances change.
9. Do I need to be on Centrelink to access Parent Pathways?
Not necessarily. While most participants receive Parenting Payment, Carer Payment, or Special Benefit, you may also be eligible without a Centrelink payment if you are under 22 years old, an early school leaver who does not have a Year 12 qualification, or a First Nations parent or carer. 10. How do I sign up for Parent Pathways with Campbell Page?
You can sign up by calling Campbell Page on 02 9103 8604, emailing Parent.Pathways@campbellpage.org.au, or completing the enquiry form on our website at campbellpage.org.au/find-work/parent-pathways. If you receive an eligible Centrelink payment, you can also register through your Centrelink Online account linked to myGov by going to My details, then Manage consent details, then selecting Parent Pathways.
